  • Just thought I'd stop by to say hello.

Things are busy here.  My back was hurting this week so I am way behind on stuff I need to get done before the weekend.  Well, I feel way behind.  It's mainly the cleaning that I need to get done.  Plus I need to replace the boys' mattresses from when the cat peed and pooped on them while we were away last week.  We just tossed the sheets and mattresses.  They were pretty old anyway and Joel's sheet never stays on them, so I had been thinking of replacing them anyway.  That, along with some grocery shopping, is on the to do list for tomorrow.

Today the boys and I stopped to add the new car and take off the old car at the personal property tax place.  Then we had lunch at Ruby Tuesdays.  Then we went to the library.  Then we went to Walmart.  Then I came home and paid bills while my lovely husband made American Chop Suey (with a little guidance as to what to put in for the sauce).

I am looking forward to seeing family over the next two weeks.  Mike has to work overtime most of July so he won't be seen so much (if at all).  The boys and I are staying in town for the ceremony on Monday.  We'll hang out with family over the weekend and whatnot.  Then we'll leave early Tuesday morning to go up to Mass.  I promised Melody we'd get there (and Grammie, too) on her birthday.  I might forget to buy her a birthday present, but I'll keep my promise to be there.

The boys and I will stay at mom and dad's house and come down to the pond to visit various people there.  We'll stay through most of John and Sandy's week, too, since we are having to go late.  I wanted to do this originally but had to get Joel home for camp.  But since things got changed around I decided to stay longer and Joel had the choice of snows pond or camp.  He chose snows pond - he doesn't want to miss out on his time with Chase.  I thought that was sweet.  If he had gone to camp he would have stayed at his cousin's house before camp started and he would have had a good time there, too.  But giving up snows pond is a pretty hard thing to do.  He's looking forward to spending a night at the pond with Timmy and Brandon, too.

I know I should not be up so late, but I don't feel tired.  It's frustrating.  I would go clean, but Joel is sleeping in the living room on an air mattress until we get his room/mattress situation straightened out.

My chiropractor appointment went well on Wednesday.  My back is feeling better and the sciatic pain even went away by the next day.  I will go again on Monday night before having to drive on Tuesday.  When I get back I'll see him twice a week for a while (I forget how long).  He did some adjusting and said my left leg was about 1/2 inch shorter than my right leg because things were out of place.  He said that is probably why I was having sciatic pain.  After the adjustment his assistant did some electrode thingy that relaxes superficial muscles and then some ultra sound heat thingy on my lower back (rubbed it around that area while it did it's thing).  Usually no one can touch that area of my back, but it didn't hurt when she did the ultra sound thingy.   The doc was really nice - he gave me his cell number because he's out of town and said to call if any problems.  He actually said to call today to let him know how I was doing.  I figured he'll forget about it and I'll see him on Monday - so I didn't call.

I think I'll try to write here more.  I miss this more in debth sharing we can do here.  I hope everyone is doing well.  I know lots of you will be traveling down here and Dawna and Jason have their concert.  I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July holiday weekend.  Mike may be feeling sorry for himself because he'll be sleeping and working all weekend.  I told him I'd bring him left-over food from Sharon's.

I'm looking forward to meeting Nicole and I hope Joel and Nathan will be good playmates for Sam.

Much love to you all.  You are all a blessing to me and I thank God for you.

  • I haven't found the cord yet, but here is the "recipe" without it.  You'll have to use your imagination for now.  I'm still looking though.  It's in a Walmart bag somewhere.

    Nathan’s Dessert Creature

    ingredients:

    1 marshmallow

    ½ fun size Hershey chocolate

½ fun size  Hershey chocolate (melted)

    7 raisins

    1 Bugles corn snack

    Fluff (used for glue)

    graham cracker square (optional)

    instructions:

    1.  Make a hole in the bottom of the marshmallow.

    2.  Put most of the melted chocolate in hole and place hole-down on plate.

    3.  Cover the top of the marshmallow with Fluff.

    4.  Place 4 raisins on top and put Fluff in the middle of the 4 raisins (these are the teeth).

    5.  Put Fluff on the bottom of the rest of your raisins and put in a row on the top of the front of your creature.

    6.  Dip the round end of the Bugle corn snack and attach to the back of the creature.

    7.  Take ½ fun size Hershey bar and break it in half.  Use Fluff or melted chocolate to put them on the sides of the creature with the letters facing the creature.

    8.  If you choose to eat it while the chocolate inside is still melted, place it on a graham cracker square.  You can also eat it when the melted chocolate has hardened.

  • Everyone here seems to be better.  I finished my antibiotics on Wednesday and I go back on Monday to get my blood pressure checked and will probably get more liver tests done, too (I think it's been about a month).

Joel is at a youth lock-in tonight.  They started out with roller skating and then will go back to the house and play rock star I think or rock band or whatever it's callded and watch The Princess Bride.  Then the plan is for them to get some sleep so we'll see if that happens.  The boys are on one level and the girls are on the other level (possibly guards sleeping at the tops and bottoms of stairs??).  Joel was looking forward to going and hanging out with friends.

Nathan played on monkeybartv.com while I watched tv and then when his shows came on (Clone Wars and Ben 10) I played on the computer.  We vegged out and then had some popcorn and crystal light fruit punch and then he was asleep before I knew it.

I really need to organize my time and get my sleep patterns back on track so I can get done what I need to get done and maybe even some of what I want to get done.  This next month and a half is going to fly by way too fast.  We have dinner at Mike's parents Wednesday - it seems to work better all around and then dad can go hunting on Thursday guilt-free.  And Mike's brother can take his family to his in-laws on Thursday.  I'll be making rolls for Wednesday (special request from Mike's mom).

A week and a half later we'll see them again at their place for the Sanders' Christmas party and gift exchange.  It looks like Janette (Mike's sister with 9 kids) is not making the trip down after all.  Dave has to work (yeah, we've known the date for 2 months at least) and apparantly buses don't run where he works on Saturdays so we can't even pile them all in three cars with Janette, Mike and I driving (we even have enough over 12 to fill the passenger seats).  This means things will be a little toned down without them.  I know the kids that will be there will have fun.  We haven't gotten to see Mike's family as much this year so it will be nice to visit.

Mike is putting together an email to send up to request an increase in night time differential for IT.  Please pray that this will happen for them.  It's been several years since IT has gotten bonuses (well, lower level anyway).

I'm sure everyone has busy weeks this week.

About Me

  • I am 36 and have been married for 13 years (yup, lucky 13). I have Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, low iron anemia, PCOS, and am obese (just the facts). I am working on not letting those be excuses (anymore). I am also a mom of two boys (12 and 6). My 6 year old has Type 1 Diabetes (diagnosed June 2006). During the time that he was diagnosed there was some upheaval in our church and my grandfather passed away. It was the worst time of my life. I have come through that time and am now searching for God's purpose for my life. I know he has a unique plan for my life. I am currently reading Pathway To Purpose For Women by Katie Brazelton. I am praying for a partner. I also have Praying for Purpose For Women, the Journal and Conversations on Purpose For Women. "The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever- do not abandon the works of your hands." Psalms 138:8
